California based pianist Nicholas Dold has an active career performing across the United States as both a solo and collaborative musician. He has been a featured artist for Minnesota Public Radio's "Performance Today", the Orchestral Institute of Napa Valley, Chamber Music Silicon Valley, the Santa Cruz Baroque Festival, Steinway of Phoenix- Arizona, the Ladies Musical Club of Seattle, and the University of Alaska - Fairbanks.
A committed educator, Mr. Dold joined the Santa Clara University Piano Faculty in 2019 and continues to serve as the department’s collaborative pianist specializing in instrumental repertoire. He has held a concurrent appointment to the Coach/Accompanying Staff of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music since 2013.
He has both adjudicated and presented for the Music Teachers Association of California (MTAC), the California Association of Professional Music Teachers (CAPMT) and most notably, the United States Open Music Competition (USOMC) for which he also designed and implemented the staff pianist program as Director of Piano Accompanying.
Mr. Dold has held prior positions on the faculties and staffs of the Duxbury Music Festival of Massachusetts, the Mondavi Young Artist Competition at U.C. Davis, Opera San Jose, the San Francisco Boys Chorus, the Crowden Music School in Berkeley, CA, and the Indiana University Pre-college String and Piano Academies.
He received his graduate and undergraduate degrees at Indiana University, where he studied piano performance with Reiko Shigeoka-Neriki, chamber music with Yael Weiss, and piano accompanying with Chih-Yi Chen.
